The public domain refers to all creative and intellectual works that have become collectively owned because they are no longer protected, or never were protected, by exclusive copyright laws.
Works in the public domain are considered part of the cultural heritage of society, and anyone can use them freely and legally for any purpose without needing to ask for permission.

Our music, our culture, our science and our economic welfare all depend on a delicate balance between those ideas that are controlled and those that are free, between intellectual property and the public domain.
James Boyle — The Public Domain

Our Objectives
1. We are dedicated to collecting public domain intellectual property (IP) to make valuable resources freely available to the public. By gathering works that are no longer under copyright protection, we aim to preserve cultural heritage and foster creativity.
2. We transform public domain intellectual property into accessible, easy-to-read formats. By carefully curating and enhancing these works, we present them in modern, user-friendly designs that improve readability and engagement. Our goal is to breathe new life into classic texts and ideas, making them more enjoyable and convenient for everyone to explore and appreciate.
3. We ensure that you can freely download and share public domain intellectual property to promote wider access and enjoyment. By providing these works in accessible formats, we empower everyone to explore, use, and distribute valuable knowledge and creativity without barriers. Our mission is to make timeless content available to all, encouraging learning, creativity, and innovation.
Public Domain Books We've Collected
Kerikil Tajam (literally: “Sharp Gravel”) is one of the three major poetry collections published during Chairil Anwar’s lifetime. It was released in 1949, the same year he passed away. The book reflects both the sharpness and fragility of a young poet who lived with intensity, but for a short time.
Yang Terampas dan Yang Putus (literally: “The Seized and the Broken”) is the second section of Chairil Anwar’s 1949 anthology, published together with Kerikil Tajam by Pustaka Rakjat. Comprising around 11 poems written in the final years of his life, this collection offers a more subdued and introspective tone. The title poem itself has often been interpreted as a quiet foreshadowing of his early death.
Deru Campur Debu
Deru Campur Debu was published in 1957, ten years after Chairil Anwar’s death. Following the 70-year posthumous copyright term, it officially entered the public domain in Indonesia on 1 January 2020. This collection is among Chairil Anwar’s most emotionally restrained and intimate works. Compiled posthumously, the anthology marks a shift in tone — not driven by the youthful defiance of his earlier poetry, but by a contemplative encounter with death, solitude, and physical decline.

Research
The project aims to research and analyse the legal and practical aspects of public domain works, focusing on derivative works and international public domain directories. Our team will investigate how different countries handle public domain content and explore potential opportunities for creating a comprehensive directory. Key deliverables include a detailed report on IP rights for derivative works and recommendations for implementing a public domain system.
